Punctal plugs 'block the exit' to your own natural tears so they stay on the surface longer. The practice uses dissolvable collagen plugs from Oasis Medical and LacriFill, a gel formula containing hyaluronic acid. Both are punctal plugs; the doctor chooses which fits your eye.

Myopia control
Nearsightedness in children is starting earlier and progressing faster than it used to, and a high prescription later in life raises the risk of retinal detachment and glaucoma. There are now four ways to slow it down, and we offer all four.

A healthy cornea is shaped like a soccer ball. Keratoconus, scarring and a corneal transplant can leave it cone shaped, and at that point glasses stop working. A scleral lens vaults the cornea and rests on the white of the eye, giving the light a smooth surface to enter through.
When even a scleral lens will not sit, an impression of the eye is taken in the chair, the way a dentist takes one of your teeth, and a lens is made to that exact shape. Dr. Nguyen is credentialed to fit them here, and ophthalmologists refer their keratoconus and post-transplant patients to him for it.
Geared to a specific ocular health concern rather than a routine check. Retinal imaging is available as a less invasive alternative to dilation for some patients.
